Slightly cheating today - this one is another from my walk along the White Cliffs of Dover yesterday. This photo is taken looking towards Dover, with the Eastern Docks visible at the bottom of the cliffs in the foreground. The haziness is caused by shooting towards the sun.

Monday, January 1st, 2007South Foreland lighthouse was originally used to warn sailors in the English Channel of the notorious Goodwin Sands. The lighthouse is also significant in the pioneering days of radio: Marconi received the first ship-to-shore transmission as well as the first international transmission from Wimereux in France. Ironically, the only mobile phone coverage in the area is from France!
Echill’s Wood Railway
Wednesday, December 27th, 2006Echill’s Wood Railway is a new construction in Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire. The enthusiast-run railway hope to provide a 2km loop at 7¼" gauge running a selection of steam, diesel and electric trains. The Water Park sees 300,000 visitors every year - it was quite busy even on a cold and grey 27th December - so the railway will almost certainly be a big success and will no doubt draw more visitors to the park.

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006After a short hiatus, I have once again starting bashing through my thesis with the intention of finishing it off as soon as possible. I managed to write a good 10 pages in the last day or so, and with 6 days after Christmas to work on it, I should be at the point where I can say I’ve at least written the draft of six of the nine chapters.
